From Wednesday, 22nd May:
Pete Monaghan will be exhibiting with us for the first time. Pete is a contemporary artist based in Aberystwyth specialising in the vernacular architecture of Wales and the Celtic fringes. For his show with us a long-simmering theme has been ignited. “Backs and Beyond” looks at tradesmen’s entrances, the unseen rear of buildings and hotels where car parks, fire escapes and bins are to be found, these are showing alongside paintings of remote places. The resulting work celebrates the beauty and dignity of humble buildings, overlooked and unseen spaces.
Nicholas Sargent, an artist based near Llandovery and who last showed with us in 2022 will be joining us from 22nd May. We are also introducing potter Peter Wills and jeweller Sophie Jauncey to Found.
In our bay window Tanwen Wilkinson's collaboration Fragile Refuge Found will include some of the 200 unique ceramic swallows she first created as an act of remembrance and celebration of the wild beauty of the Epynt and to raise awareness of the people displaced from there and from other places around the world. Joining Tanwen is glass artist Eira Wilkinson who will be showing 4 decorative lead glass panels and potter Lisa Armour Brown.
From Wednesday, 12th June:
Marcia Gibson-Watt will be showing a series of her Gurkha paintings as Brecon celebrates its annual event on 16th June whereby the Gurkha Wing (Mandalay) exercises its right under an Honorary Citizenship to parade through the Town. A colourful and memorable occasion!
