On Wednesday 22nd May we are welcoming artist Pete Monaghan, a contemporary artist based in Aberystwyth specialising in the vernacular architecture of Wales and the Celtic fringes. For this exhibition a long-simmering theme has been ignited: “Backs and Beyond” looks at tradesmen’s entrances, the unseen rear of buildings and hotels where car parks, fire escapes and bins are to be found, these are showing alongside paintings of remote places. The resulting work celebrates the beauty and dignity of humble buildings, overlooked and unseen spaces.
We are also delighted to have back with us artist Nicholas Sargent from the Rhandirmwyn valley and we are introducing potter Peter Wills and jeweller Sophie Jauncey to Found.
For this show we also have freelance artist Tanwen Wilkinson, potter Lisa Armour Brown and glass designer Eira Wilkinson who are collaborating with some pieces on the theme of Fragile Refuge Found.
